DETHATCHING
Dethatching thins out the thatch layer by mechanically slitting into the thatch and bringing it to the top. Before we rake up the thatch, your lawn looks a lot like a hay field with all the dead thatch laying on the top. We then rake it up by hand and bag it.
WHY YOU SHOULD DETHATCH:
The thatch layer in your yard is a layer of living and dead shoots, stems and roots that develop on the soil surface. This buildup of thatch stresses out the yard by not allowing air, nutrients, and water down to the root system. Excessive thatch is also a breeding ground for diseases and insects.
WHEN TO DETHATCH:
We dethatch yards at the same time as they are aerated. We offer this service from March 1st - early May.
We leave the bags of thatch we collect from your yard for you to dispose of. We charge a fee ($20/2,000 sq. ft. or less, $12/additional 1,000 sq. ft.) to remove the bags of thatch if you would like us to take them away.
